Kids' Corner: 3 Gospel-Centered Picture Books to Read with Your Kids
featuring C.S. Lewis, Naaman, and Penelope Judd
Penelope Judd: A Tale of a Dirty Land, a Promise Kept, and a Spotless Prince by Shain Linne | Ages 4-8
Based on his song by the same name, Shai Linne tells the story of Penelope Judd—a young girl living in a messy, broken world who receives an invitation from a spotless Prince. Through this poetic allegory, kids are invited to see the beauty of the gospel: even in a world filled with sin and sorrow, there is hope, rescue, and renewal in Christ. The Best Bath Ever!: How God Washes Away Our Sin and Makes Us Brand New by Paul Tautges | Ages 5-9 | Releasing July 16
Naaman seems to have it all—but he also has a problem that runs deeper than leprosy. In this engaging retelling of 2 Kings 5, children learn that only God can wash away our sin and make us brand new. With fun illustrations and a clear, compelling message, this book offers a beautiful picture of the gospel for kids and a timely reminder for adults as well. C.S. Lewis: The Boy Who Loved to Ask Big Questions by Laura Caputo-Wickham | Ages 4-7 | Releasing August 11
Part of the Do Great Things for God series, this biography introduces young readers to the life of C.S. Lewis, from his love of stories and learning to the deep questions he asked about God and suffering. Kids are invited to see how Lewis’s curiosity led him to Christ and how God used his imagination to share truth with the world. I especially enjoyed learning about his testimony and lifelong love of books. A great pick for curious kids who love to ask “why?” Thank you, TGBC, for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
