The Reading Nook: Books for Family Discipleship
helping little hearts know and love Jesus
If we sat down for coffee and you asked me to talk about something I love, family discipleship would be at the top of the list. I’ve only been a mom for 5.5 years, but along the way, I’ve found helpful resources that have shaped our family’s rhythms of faith.
As a first-generation Christian, I was eager to dive into resources to help me disciple my children. I learned that while resources can be valuable, family discipleship doesn’t have to be complicated. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 reminds us that discipleship is meant to be woven into our everyday lives.
With so many options out there, it can feel overwhelming to know where to start. While none of these resources are necessary, they have been a gift to our family—helping to plant seeds of the gospel in everyday moments.
With that said, here’s an important reminder: Resources can be helpful, but they are not essential. God has already given us everything we need for life and godliness (see 2 Peter 1:3). Also, don’t forget to check out your local library to see if these books are available to borrow. I hope this list serves as a helpful guide!
